A Sunny Winter Admiral Park Engagement Session

I had never been to Admiral Park before Tara and Cam’s engagement session. I’d honestly never even heard of it. When Tara and I were emailing about possible locations, I recommended they think about places they go often and are meaningful to them. Her first thought was Admiral Park. They bring their pups there for walks, and Cam plays frisbee golf there often. To me, it was a no brainer. That’s definitely the right spot for us. I’m just thankful Tara trusted me to make it beautiful. That is normally the initial hurdle in helping my couples pick out-of-the-norm locations. They think that a spot is “not photogenic” or “not especially pretty,” but honestly, I can shoot pretty much anywhere. There is almost always a pretty option for shooting. I just need couples to fully trust me, and Tara and Cam totally did.

My favorite spot at Admiral Park was down by the water. A spot only accessible in the winter while the water is down. The same location also is not great after lots of rain because it’s just all muddy and slippery. The water being down at Admiral Park is not like the water being low in other places of the lake. Under the shoreline are smooth river rock and big boulders. Normally, it’s 2 feet of straight clay mud that your foot just sinks in so I was SUPER excited and very surprised to find such a pretty shoreline. It was a perfect place to end our session, and I’m so excited to share these with you. I really think I thrive shooting at new locations. My creativity just runs wild!
