Sunny Foothills Parkway Senior Session

Kathryn is my husband’s cousin. So, she would be my cousin-in-law, right? I’ve known her since she was tiiiiinnny. Although I don’t feel old, my husband and I have been together since 2008, which quickly dates me and means I’ve known Kathryn since she was THREE YEARS OLD. How in the actual heck did we get here? How am I taking her Foothills Parkway senior photos right now? I was literally playing hide and seek with her yesterday at her aunt’s house waiting for Dustin to find us. Now, she’s playing hide and seek with my kids at their grandmother’s house while the family gathers for Easter.

My devotional this morning was about time. It made the observation that young children don’t live under the restraint of time because they just simply don’t know it exists. They know they get hungry so it’s meal time. When they get sleepy, it’s bedtime. And getting dirty means it’s bath time. They don’t live by time like older children and adults though. When I first read that, I was envious of my young kiddos and their freedom from the clock.

Then, the devotional talked about what our lives would be like without time, and it got me right back to loving time again. It’s not only a way to keep us organized, but it allows us to not take advantage of someone else’s life. It helps us mark memories and appreciate the various seasons of life. While I definitely don’t feel like I have enough time in one day to do all the things I really want and need to do, the fact that I get to prioritize aspects of my time allows me to keep my character in check. I’m holding myself accountable to making time for the things that really matter most. Like time with God and time with my family.

Time is a hard thing, but if we can appreciate it’s good qualities, it can totally change our perspective on it entirely.
