Some families become such a meaningful part of my business that it feels impossible to imagine my calendar without them. The Pelehach family is one of those families. Cari and Eric Pelehach first stepped in front of my camera as an engaged couple years ago, and since then I’ve had the privilege of documenting so many milestones in their lives. From their engagement session and wedding day to maternity, newborn, and one-year photos for their first baby, Harrison, and now a White Room one year session for sweet Macy, it has been such a joy to watch their family grow.
This White Room one year session was especially exciting because it was the first time I had photographed the Pelehach family in the studio. The White Room was the perfect setting for celebrating Macy’s first birthday. One of my favorite things about the studio is the beautiful natural light that fills the space throughout the day. The clean white walls and minimal design create a timeless backdrop without becoming a distraction. Instead, the focus stays exactly where it should; on the connection, laughter, and joy shared between family members.
Macy had just turned one and was absolutely adorable throughout the entire session. She is at that age where every expression is genuine, every smile is contagious, and every reaction is completely unpredictable. Those little moments are what make this White Room one year session so special. Without busy backgrounds competing for attention, every giggle, cuddle, and curious glance becomes the star of the image.
Of course, we had to finish the session with a cake smash. This was Macy’s first real experience with sugar, and she did not disappoint. The second the cake was placed in front of her, she went all in. She dug right into the frosting and looked like she was living her absolute best life. The expressions she gave us throughout the cake smash were priceless. Every few seconds she delivered another hilarious or adorable reaction that had all of us laughing.
To make the celebration even sweeter, big brother Harrison joined in on the fun. Watching him share cake with Macy was the perfect ending to their White Room one year session and such a sweet glimpse into the relationship they’re building as siblings.
Families like the Pelehachs are one of the reasons I love what I do. Being invited back year after year to document these milestones is such an honor, and this White Room one year session for Macy is one I love so much!
