Fall Family Session at Maple Grove Estate
I shot Stacie and Houston’s fall wedding 10 years ago this year. They celebrated by purchasing a fall family session with me. Stacie has always had great style. I’ve watched their family grow through social media over the years and have drooled over how adorably she dresses her kiddos. So, I wasn’t surprised at all when their outfits were perfect for their session at Maple Grove Estate.
When they first got out of the car, their oldest, Hudson, said something about expecting their session to be lame. I couldn’t help but laugh when I scoffed and told him that it would be anything but lame. That I am the most fun photographer on the planet! He said, “Yeah, we’ll see,” with a little smirk on his face. Honestly, I wouldn’t expect anything less from an 8 year old boy. Stacie and Houston apologized, but honestly, I love the brutal honesty of children. This is what most grooms/dads are thinking, too, when they show up to a photo session. They just don’t have the guts to say it. Side note: Just the other day Grayson said, “Mommy, your tummy is big and soft.” I looked at him and said, “Yup, you know why? Because it carried THREE babies in there!” Gotta love his honesty, and also gotta love tummy tucks 😉. So, I was up for the challenge of making this the most fun session ever, and I was looking forward to hearing how I did at the end.
We did all kinds of fun things. Races, fart noises, running, jumping, flying, exploring secret staircases, swinging, climbing, tickling, and in between it all, we got some adorable smiling at the camera shots. A win-win for the whole fam. You know what was the best part? In the end, I asked him if it truly was super lame. He looked me dead in the eye and said, “That was WAY more fun than I thought it was going to be.” I think it’s safe to say I passed the test of most fun photographer.
