A Wedding at The Press Room

I didn’t get to shoot Jess & Joel’s wedding at the Press Room myself. They booked me after I had already committed to another couple, so I hired Winx Photo to shoot on my behalf. Associate weddings are fun for me because it’s like a big surprise as I sort through their wedding photos. It’s a grand reveal watching the moments of their day unfold and feeling the emotions through the photo that I wasn’t physically present for. Sometimes it’s hard to explain how a photo can make you feel so intensely because you don’t know if those feelings are purely from the photo or if they’re from the memory that you have surrounding that photo. But when you weren’t even there for the moment but the photos still makes you feel… you know it’s a good one.

This wedding at The Press Room was the perfect demonstration how a first look doesn’t take away from the ceremony. Jess & Joel’s first look was so sweet. They both teared up, Joel’s little boy got to watch through the window (make sure you spot him in the background because it’s adorable), and the best part was how they could talk and hug and kiss and enjoy the privacy of the moment. Then fast forward to Jess walking down the aisle and Joel teared up again. In the sweetest way. His big smile was flashing as his eyes glossed over and the moment was still SO impactful. It was precious really. And because they did that first look, they got to do almost all of their portraits before the ceremony, which meant after the ceremony they got to have a private dinner just the two of them as well as get some FABULOUS sunset photos (some of my favorites from the day might I add). I know the first look isn’t for everyone and I totally respect that, but when it’s right for you it can be really phenomenal.
