There was a moment at Rebecca and John’s sunny Castleton Farms wedding that will go down as one of my all time favorite moments of my career. It was right after we finished sunset photos. I am always very conscious of how long I have the couple out for pictures. I know it’s not what they want to spend the majority of their time doing during the reception. My goal is just to be super efficient and get as much as I can in as little time as I can. When I finish our last portrait time of the day, which is typically sunset photos, I tell them how thankful I am to have had so much time with them. As I parked the golf cart we drove around, I turned and gave Rebecca and John a very heartfelt thank you. Rebecca then looked at me and asked if they could get a picture with me! I immediately felt SO honored. I grabbed my second shooter and let her snap one of us. Afterwards, Rebecca said, “Thank you, Amanda. You were seriously the best part of my wedding.” You guys. I could have cried. This bride is not a super emotional person. She’s very mellow and chill. She was super easy to work with because she just went with the flow and trusted me. When she said those words to me, I could feel the genuineness in her voice. If I hadn’t immediately gone in for a hug, I probably would have started crying because it meant so much to me to have her say that.
I do not take lightly the fact that I get to come alongside my couples on one of the most important days of their lives. A day they will talk about, remember, and relive for the rest of their lives. It’s crazy to think I am with them more on their wedding day than any other person. More than their parents, more than their bridal party. Even more than they are around each other. It is the highest honor to be trusted with this day. My number one goal is to help you embrace the importance of the day. To reap the benefits of planning such a magical 24 hours. So when Rebecca said that to me, it just pushed my already full heart right over the edge.
Thank you, Rebecca and John, for bringing me into your day. Letting me into this sliver of your story. It was a complete and total honor and an absolutely stunning sunny Castleton Farms wedding!
