A Peaceful and Joy-Filled Summer Trillium Wedding in the Smoky Mountains
Kaley and Patrick’s summer Trillium wedding brought together breathtaking mountain scenery, an outdoor dance floor, and the sweetest sense of peace. Even a passing summer storm couldn’t take away from the joy of their beautiful wedding day.
Kaley and Patrick are from Knoxville, making them only my second local couple to get married at The Trillium. Since they grew up at the foot of the Smoky Mountains, they—and most of their guests—have spent their lives surrounded by these epic views. Still, they were no less in awe of the scenery when they arrived at the venue.
Working at wedding venues with such incredibly beautiful views makes me appreciate the mountains even more. I get to experience them through the eyes of my couples and their guests. Hearing everyone ooh and aah as they take in the scenery reminds me how special it is to witness views like these on so many wedding days.
Kaley and Patrick’s wedding was genuinely so sweet. A summer storm rolled through, cooling the temperature while still allowing us to photograph all their portraits outside. They even had their dance floor outdoors all evening, and it was absolutely perfect.
Throughout the entire day, I watched Kaley remain an unwavering source of calm for everyone around her. As the storm rolled up the mountain, she was the one reassuring everyone that it would be fine. When the stickers came off the bottoms of her shoes before we could photograph them, she stayed cool and collected. When a groomsman arrived only a few minutes before the ceremony and we had to move the wedding-party portraits until afterward, she was completely okay with that too.
There was nothing that was going to stop this girl from having a peaceful, joy-filled day, and I was so here for it.
When my couples feel stressed or anxious on their wedding day, I try my hardest to help carry that weight so they can focus on the happiness of the day. With Kaley, I didn’t have to do that at all. She accepted each moment as it came and trusted that everything would work out exactly as it should.
Once Kaley and Patrick shared their first look and she finally got to see her soon-to-be husband, all was right in the world. You can see that feeling in every one of their images.
Their summer Trillium wedding was a beautiful reminder that joy doesn’t require everything to go exactly according to plan. Sometimes, a passing storm cools the air, the schedule shifts a little, and the day becomes even more memorable because of it.
