Brittney and Dusty are parents to Hadley, Ava, and Mason. I have taken so many photos of this sweet family over the years and notice a recurring theme, which I’ve mentioned in previous posts. It was even more pronounced before this studio newborn session so I’m going to bring it up again.
I reserve my Sundays for family time. It’s the only day of the week I take off, and it’s the only day both my husband and I have off together. The kids are home, and we always make the most of our Sundays. My Sundays are sacred. The only time I make an exception to this is when I book a wedding on a Sunday, which is very rare. If I shoot portraits on a Sunday for some crazy reason, I am usually EXHAUSTED and really struggle mentally. Additionally, because I take Sundays off and shoot weddings almost every Saturday, that leaves me with no weekend days to photograph portraits. Brittney knows this and always goes out of her way to make sure she doesn’t have to schedule on one of those days. She’s always on top of scheduling with me so far in advance that we can make something work on a weekday for both of us. Even with scheduling so far out, however, her husband usually has to take some vacation time from work, and she sometimes has to check Mason out early from school.
When it came time for her fresh 48 session, Brittney was supposed to be induced on a Tuesday. We made plans for me to come on Thursday to the hospital. Well, her Tuesday induction got postponed to Wednesday, that got postponed to Thursday morning that got postponed to Thursday evening which still got delayed 2 more hours. So wild. She ended up having Hadley Friday morning really early in the morning. What went from me having lots of flexibility and availability to swing by for this turned into a very tiny window on Friday or waking up early before my wedding on Saturday. Saturday would have been so much easier for Brittney and Dusty but would have been SO hard for me. I presented both options to them and told them if they wanted to do Saturday morning, I would do it. But they insisted on me coming on Friday because coming before a wedding would be so hard! I offered several more times and finally conceded to their generosity and decided to come Friday after my morning session, before my afternoon session.
I’m so thankful for this family and how considerate they are. Their kindness does not go unnoticed. I hope one day I can repay them for their flexibility and thoughtfulness. I hope you enjoy this studio newborn session and see the sweetness of this little angel behind every photo!
