I cannot tell you how much I love this venue! It’s a very tough decision to say if I love it or Jackson Terminal more. I think the indoor options at the Standard are better, but I think the flow of Jackson Terminal is better. They both provide almost the same backdrops for photos since they’re so close to one another. But nothing, and I mean nothing, can beat the top patio at The Standard with their café lights strung on the rusty frame with the garage door in the background and the most amazing sunset ever. I’ve never shot a wedding there where it’s actually been used (other than pictures of course) because it’s so far away from everything, but if couples decided to use it, it’s GORGEOUS and perfect for a cocktail hour.
My favorite moment of Breana’s and Matt’s wedding day was so easy to pick out. Not that I necessarily have a hard time with other weddings, but sometimes I have to think back through the day and see what stood out to me most. But with this wedding, it’s been jumping up and down in my head just waiting to make it to the blog ever since the wedding happened! If you were there, you’re probably guessing what I’m about to say because all of the guests witnessed it themselves. Are you ready? Do you think you’ve got it figured out yet?
It was during the ceremony. Breana was wearing a cathedral length veil that decided to get stuck to the heal of her shoe throughout the whole day. Well, during the exit from the ceremony, it once again got stuck on her shoe. The aisle was lined with candles and it was creating the train of her dress to fluff out to the side. In an effort to prevent knocking any candles over or catching her dress on fire, she holds her bouquet in your left hand and starts messing with it with her right now. She’s tugging at it and tugging at it and just as an aisle seated guest starts to help her, Matt sweeps her up in his arms, literally, and carries her the rest of the way out of the reception. It was the coolest, sweetest, most heroic, knight-in-shining-armor type of moment I’ve experienced at a wedding yet! I just love these two so much!
