Josh and Allison just moved here from Texas. They left the part of the country they grew up in to move to Knoxville, TN. When I asked them how they chose Knoxville, they said they knew they wanted to move to TN and when they started googling, Knoxville was the top pick city to live in. Two months after they moved here, Josh started planning his proposal to Allison. They are together all the time, so doing it discretely was so difficult that he didn’t even pick up the ring until the day before this proposal! He googled spots in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park and the troll bridge came up. He immediately knew he wanted to do a spence cabin proposal at the troll bridge. When we had our planning call, I told him I knew the exact bridge he was referring to. We planned for me to arrive first, watch them park, and discretely follow them down the trail to the bridge. When I parked though, I saw their car with their Texas license plate and got a little panicky because they were not in it. So I started back to the bridge and as I’m almost there I see the two of them walking back out from the bridge area. I noticed a cluster of people back by the bridge and figured that Josh wouldn’t have done the proposal without me there or with all those people back there. I randomly turned around and followed them in a different direction in case he decided to change locations but then it got kind of weird and so I just looped back and went to the bridge. As I was waiting the group of people left and I watched as Josh and Allison walked down the path away from the bridge. I’m about 50 yards from them with forest between us, but I caught a glimpse of him raising his hand in the air in a thumbs up behind his back while Allison wasn’t looking and that was my cue to stay exactly where I was. I was “photographing some leaves on the ground” and “looking for cool insects” when they strolled back over the bridge. They went across and looked at a big chimney left from one of the houses that used to be there. As they came back, Josh stopped Allison at the top of the bridge, took a knee, and popped the question. Allison’s reaction was priceless and the moment was absolutely perfect. They spent the rest of their time hugging and kissing and saying I love you and we just got some of the best photos at this Spence Cabin proposal!
