Seven Islands State Birding Park Engagement Session

I have driven past the Seven Islands State Birding Park sign on the interstate so many times. I’ve even golfed at the Seven Islands golf course multiple times. I have never actually been to or shot at this park though. When Kaitlin and Ryan asked where they should do their engagement photos, I asked if they would be up to exploring a new location with me. They jumped on it, and I’m so excited they did because it really was gorgeous. It was also HUGE. So, I got there 30 minutes early to find out exactly where I wanted to take them. I’m glad I did, too, because the spot I thought would be amazing was up a HUGE hill. It went up as far as you could see, and when I got to the top, it turned a corner and kept going. I followed it around, breathing hard because omg it was straight up. Once I got to the top, it wasn’t nearly as good as I anticiated. What I thought would have been a better view of the mountains ended up being a view of a neighborhood and power lines. So thankful I made some time to location scout because I would have felt awful dragging them up that hill for no reason.

We did find some spots on the water to shoot and some shots in a field to shoot. I took them in front of some mountains and on the walkway. They were so giggly the whole time, it made for some really awesome laughing shots. So thankful for these two and their choosing me as their wedding photographer. Kaitlin’s sister’s wedding is this coming December so I’ll get to see Kaitlin as both a bridesmaid and a bride at her own wedding in May of next year. I think by the end of this, they’re going to feel more like family than friends!
