“I’m actually kind of glad it rained today,” are the words Krystina said as we walked with umbrellas over our heads from the manor down to the bridal pavilion. I smiled to myself because I was so proud of her for not letting the wet weather bring her stress or sadness. It didn’t keep her from enjoying the blissfulness of her day. A rainy Castleton wedding is still beautiful in its own way, and their back up rain plan for the ceremony was in the bridal pavilion, which was STUNNING! I was seriously blown away at how pretty it was. Thankfully, after 20 minutes of hard rain, it was mostly just a drizzle the rest of the day. The drizzle even let up entirely after the ceremony for a few “just married” shots of Krystina and Jared before they headed into their private dinner in the manor.
Krystina and Jared’s wedding day was unique for me. It was 10 days before my due date, and when she inquired with me, I was very transparent about what it may look like for her to book me as her wedding photographer. “There’s a chance I won’t be there at all,” I told her. Then again, my other two babies didn’t come until my induction date. So likely, I’ll be able to be there at least part of the day, but getting that close to delivery, I knew my body probably would not last all day. I was very careful to set realistic expectations for them that I would definitely be leaving about halfway through the day and letting my associate photographers take over to shoot. We got off of that initial call with me telling her to really think about it and make sure she was okay with all of that before pulling the trigger. To talk to Jared and her parents about it and make sure they were comfortable with it as well. Just a few days later, Krystina reached back out to me and confirmed they just really wanted the AMP experience, and they trusted me with whoever I chose to associate shoot for me that day. I can’t say I’ve done this before, and I can definitely say I won’t ever be in this situation again because this is our last biological baby. It worked flawlessly though. Massive shoutout to Emmalee who came to personally assist me carry bags, load the car, trudge across the property, and make sure my water was full. Giant shout out to Leah Nicole Photo, who second shot for me the first half of the day and transitioned into associate shooting for me the second half of the day. Lastly, huge shoutout to Alaina Rene Photography for coming later in the day as Leah’s second shooter when I left to go home and put my feet up. I could not have done this day without each and every one of these girls, and I am BEYOND grateful to them. They went above and beyond and loved Krystina and Jared just like I would. They selflessly served this giant belly of mine, and if they hadn’t been there, I don’t know if I would have made it. So, thank you thank you thank you, ladies! You have no idea how much each of you mean to me!
