I love love love love this family. Over 3 years ago when we moved to Knoxville from Nashville, I also made the transition to being a full time wedding photographer. I immediately started trying to build close, personal friendships in the photography industry. It’s hard, you guys. Especially as an introvert. That’s right…I said it…an introvert. If you’ve ever seen me on a wedding day, you would think for sure I was an extrovert, but I’m 100% not. So, making friends is hard, but I put myself out there. I scheduled coffee dates, went to group meet ups, joined all the Facebook groups, and started following all of my fellow Knoxville photogs on all the social media platforms. Those friendships never happened. I looked and looked and looked, and it just didn’t feel natural. I kept waiting for it to just unfold so organically, but it kept feeling so forced. So, I just went back into my turtle shell. That’s what we introverts do when the whole friendship thing doesn’t work out. Then, I met Alison. Alison with one L, and FINALLY…this girl was real. She didn’t judge or compare or be super sneaky and secretive. She was just herself. We found ourselves going weeks without talking then spending hours gushing all our deepest secrets to one another. She spoke more truth into my life in those early days of being an official professional photographer than anyone, and I can never thank her enough for that. When she asked me to meet her at Melton Hill Park to take photos of her sweet, precious family, it was without a doubt, such an honor. This evening ended up being on of the most BEAUTIFUL sunsets I’ve ever seen at Melton Hill, and all that golden light just danced around this happy family. They’ve been through some things since little baby Jack was conceived, but we are praising Jesus for all the glory. Alison is back to being healthy, Jack also has officially been diagnosed HEALTHY, and there is a reason to celebrate, ya’ll. Join me in lifting those prayer hands and shouting thank you to the Father because He is so good for so many reasons and bringing Alison into my life is just one of the tiny ones!
