Lifestyle Session
I had the absolute pleasure of getting to know the Thomas family at their extended family session this past spring. I adore this sweet family so when Cody wanted me to come photograph their little family in their home more in a lifestyle way, I was honored to say yes! If you look back at their spring session, you’ll see that Cody was pregnant – here. She had her sweet baby and named her Annie. In their lifestyle session, Annie was 2 months old and just the happiest little thing. She loved more than anything watching her big brother run around and play. The way they interact reminds me so much of my little family. When I took them back into Jack’s room, I had Cody sit in the rocker and feed Annie while Jordan played with Jack in the floor. They were pillow fighting, wrestling, airplaning, flying, tackling…all things Dustin also does with our kids sitting in the floor of the bedroom while I feed the baby. Cody made the comment that, “Yup, this is normally what is happening,” and I watched her face light up as she was looking down at her boys giggling and having the best time. Those are easily some of my favorite images from their session, but honestly, I have so many favorites. With lifestyle sessions, I never know how they’re going to go. I don’t ever really “have a plan” beforehand because I don’t know what lighting I’m working with, what the kids’ temperaments are going to be, and what the inside of the house looks like. I usually try to get the family to do things they normally do day-to-day so their session is a reflection of this season of life in their home. Because of these variables, I usually walk away with just a handful of FAVORITES, but in this case, I seriously had a hard time narrowing down for the blog. so. many. favorites.
