A joyful summer session before a magical Christmas wedding
Kira and Cameron’s Knoxville Botanical summer engagement session last week was the perfect combination of gorgeous greenery, warm summer light, and plenty of laughter. I loved spending the evening exploring the gardens with these two, hearing more about their wedding plans, and getting to know them better as a couple.
Just a week and a half before their engagement session, The Press Room hosted an open house. I photograph these events for Spaces in the City twice a year, but I also set up a little table where I can talk with couples and their families throughout the evening. Between photographing the event and chatting with visitors, I stayed busy the entire time!
Kira and Cameron attended the open house with Kira’s mom and aunt, but somehow, I never actually saw them there. At the very end of the evening, just before they left, Kira’s mom came over to introduce herself. She told me how excited they all were that I was going to be Kira and Cameron’s wedding photographer. It was the sweetest, most precious interaction! Whenever a client or a client’s family member says something like that to me, it genuinely makes my heart burst. Knowing that a family is excited to have me document such an important day is something I never take for granted.
Kira and Cameron will be married at Jackson Terminal in December. Anytime I have a December couple, I love asking whether they are leaning toward Christmas vibes or more of a winter wonderland. Personally, I love seeing lit Christmas trees throughout a reception space. I have photographed Jackson Terminal decorated that way several times, and it always looks so, so, so pretty!
I was thrilled when Kira told me they were leaning toward Christmas tree decor. They plan to use trees covered in simple white lights and sprinkle them throughout the venue. The warm glow is going to look incredible against Jackson Terminal’s industrial details and create such a cozy, romantic atmosphere.
During their Knoxville Botanical summer engagement, I quickly realized just how easy Kira and Cameron are to photograph. Cameron kept Kira smiling and giggling throughout the session, giving us so many genuine moments. Their candid laughing photos are some of my absolute favorites because they perfectly capture the joyful, comfortable dynamic between them.
Kira and Cameron, I had such a wonderful time with you at the gardens. I cannot wait to celebrate with you on December 6th and photograph your beautiful Christmas-inspired wedding at Jackson Terminal!
