This is a Knoxville Botanical Garden engagement session that ended up with the most BEAUTIFUL light. We were shooting for a fall look even though it was still 80 degrees outside, and I think we pulled it off. Allie and Tanner may have been sweating by the end, but you would have never known it.
There is a group of friends that I have shot all of their weddings. The girls are close, the guys are close, and these two are part of that group. They are probably one of the most loyal groups I’ve photographed in my career, and every single one of them have planned an absolutely stunning wedding. Allie and Tanner are particularly close to another couple named Lexi and Matt who, coincidentally, are getting married this weekend. They made references to Lexi and Matt throughout their engagement session, and as we were shooting, I kept noticing similarities between the two. They have the same exact kind of humor, which had me rolling the entire session, and seriously have some of the best stories including Tanner’s proposal story to Allie.
Tanner took Allie, Lexi, and Matt to Biltmore one weekend. Lexi and Matt knew the plan was for him to propose there, but they didn’t know where he wanted to do it exactly. As they wandered the grounds, Tanner saw a sign pointing to a trail leading to a waterfall. He gave Matt the go-time look, and they started making their way down the trail. It ended up being over a mile hike, and all four of them were profusely sweating by the time they got there. What was supposed to be a waterfall was actually just a drainage pipe about 10 feet off the ground dripping run-off water 😂 Tanner, of course, called the spot off for the proposal because it was nothing like he thought it was going to be. Tanner, Matt, and Lexi were all so mad and making comments on how stupid it was for Biltmore to label this a waterfall while Allie stood there completely clueless and wondering why they were so mad. Ultimately, he did end up proposing at Biltmore. It was perfect, and now, they have this hilarious story of Tanner trying to find the perfect spot and hiking a whole mile back to a waterfall that was a dripping drainage pipe. If you know them, it’s perfect for them to have a story like this as part of one of the biggest moments of their lives.
We had so much fun shooting their Knoxville Botanical Gardens engagement session, and the light that evening was more than perfect! Enjoy!
