This venue is SOOOO amazing! Very very few venues can hold 400 people. And if they can, they don’t do it very beautifully. But Haymaker totally rocked it. First of all… their ceremony site is GORGEOUS! They have this huge structure at the beginning of the aisle made out of this beautiful wood that I can’t even begin to describe (but you can see for yourself below!). Then it’s lined in evergreen trees all the way around… and you know what that means?? Even in the winter, their ceremony site is stunning! Then somehow, someway, the platform that you stand on is grass with these big stones making steps up to the top. Then, to top it all off, it gets shaded about an hour or more before sunset, so even in the dead of summer, you can have a ceremony outside that isn’t too too hot! Now for their property!!!! One of the hardest parts at big farms is finding shade. It’s usually made up of huge pasturelands, hence the reason it’s a farm, which is beautiful, but makes it hard to take photos in the middle of the day. Well Haymaker Farms has beautifully manicured trees on their property creating the best shade with this huge mountain ridge in the background. Then finally, of course they have a barn. That is air conditioned and plumbed with bathrooms. And the not so exciting part, but still really practical, it has enough room for even a 400 guest count to park comfortably.
I absolutely adore this couple. They are definitely more friends than clients and I have three examples to prove it. Andrea is in school right now to complete her graduate degree in Speech Pathology. She has no time, and everyone knows students don’t have time to make a lot of mulah. But because she is one of the most generous people I know and such a great friend, she bought Grayson the CUTEST little gown with his name spelled out on the front of it. She sacrificed her time and resources to give a gift when she definitely didn’t have to. Then the second time was when my dad passed away. It was within minutes of me sharing it on facebook that Andrea and Matt both reached out to me to offer their condolences. They didn’t hesitate because they were scared it would be awkward or they didn’t know what to say… they just showed me some love through their words and it meant the world. And finally, the third time… they were in town going to grab dinner with family. Baby Gray was just a couple weeks old, and they came early before dinner so they could swing by and see him! Andrea held him for a few and they both ooh’d and aah’d over how adorable he was. I stood there, with all my emotions still in full swing from having him, and watched clients of mine love on my baby and it literally brought tears to my eyes. How did I get so incredibly blessed with such amazing people in my life?
And as I always do… I want to share a favorite moment or two from the day. You’ll see below when Andrea opened her note from Matt sitting beside the brick house in her bridal robe. The lighting was gorgeous. Her hair and makeup were done and were literally perfect. She’s reading the letter out loud for the videographer and she gets to the very end and says “Love, your Daddy Pooty”. She barely gets the words out before she starts laughing so hard she can’t talk. She looks up at me and the videographer and starts explaining… see, we have this cat. the cat has bad gas problems. so the cat’s nickname quickly became loki loki poo. which eventually took a turn to pooty which meant that we are momma and daddy pooty. and then we started calling our car baby pooty. now we are just a family of pooties. We were all standing outside in the blazing heat cracking up. Thank goodness for videographers having couples read out loud because otherwise that moment would have never happened.
This is a short one… but makes me smile because I have three sister n laws. Andrea found the cutest cards for all of her gifts on the wedding day. She had one for Matt, but also one for her sister n law, mother n law, mom, dad, etc… Well the one to her sister-n-law read Sister-n-law, you’re WAY better than I thought you’d be… thank God for that and it made me laugh so hard. I feel like that phrase could be used on any n-law really. Society always jokes about the “in-laws” and how terrible they will be, but in all reality, they’re not that bad, in fact, their usually pretty awesome!
I could write a novel on all the awesome moments that happened, but lets face it, you’re really here for the pictures so this will be the last one. It’s hard in photography to portray some moments because it’s just a snapshot. Whereas in video you get the whole entire moment. Well this couple did the ENTIRE Dirty Dancing dance and it. was. incredible. Like I was totally floored… my jaw on the ground. So when you get to the section, you probably wouldn’t have known that that’s what it was, but now you will. so amazingly impressive. There is a little nip slip in the beginning, but don’t worry, that picture didn’t make the cut for the gallery or blog post ;-).
