I have photographed one other Greek wedding in my career. It was supposed to be in this very same church, but when COVID hit, they had to move it to an airbnb. They still did the traditions, but it was a very different experience than Anastasia and Ellis’s wedding. Anastasia and Ellis’s wedding was absolutely beautiful. I read up on the meaning behind each part of the ceremony, but in the moment, my memory was gone so all I could see was the devotion in the room. The awe in each expression as they gazed on Anastasia and Ellis. How much this ceremony meant to each of them so down deep in their souls. They were all physically present, but each and every one of them were so emotionally invested. It was moving. Most of the time, I couldn’t even understand all the words being said, but I could feel the presence of the Lord sweeping over the room. It was so rich in every way.
And after such a formal ceremony, we headed to the reception to finish this Greek wedding at The Press Room. My favorite part of the reception was watching all the Greek dancing. Lucky for me, they had a huge group of people that grew up as part of a Greek dancing club and all knew these amazing dances. They were all in sync and moving so beautifully. When you get to the reception photos, you’ll see the ones that were to Greek songs. The best one was when the bride and her brother picked up shots off the ground with their mouths and drank them with no hands. Her brother even went backward on his knees almost flat on his back and popped right back up. It’s hard to describe in words, but you’ll know it exactly when you see it.
Anyway, hope you love this Greek wedding!
