Meads Quarry and Forks of the River Engagement

As you look through these engagement photos, there will be two things that pop out at you right away. 1. How adorable Katie and Rhett are together, and 2. How in shape they are! Well, they actually met at a gym. Katie said she saw Rhett across the gym one day and thought, “Man, I need to meet that guy,” and the same thought went through Rhett’s mind. So, a year later they were dating. They love being outside paddleboarding, hiking, biking, etc. When it was time to choose their engagement session location, the Island Homes area was the first place that popped into my head. I feel like it is the outdoor capital of Knoxville. Not to mention it’s also the home to the notorious sunflower fields that bloomed right about the time Katie and Rhett had their engagement photos taken. So, we set up a Forks of the River engagement session.

That seemed perfect, but if you remember back to the forecast over the last couple weeks, it’s been rain or thunderstorms every single day. Not all day though. Just a random flare-up sometime during the day. and you just never knew when it was going to hit. The morning their session was supposed to take place, it was SUPER cloudy and gloomy so I checked the forecast again (which, the night before looked great). Of course, there was a thunderstorm coming through with 70-90% chance of rain the rest of the day. I reached out to Katie, and she decided to postpone to this past weekend! Although it was blazing hot, it was GORGEOUS!

Katie and Rhett are an associate photographer couple of mine. That means they get all the benefits of the AMP wedding experience, but I’m not the one ACTUALLY shooting their engagement or wedding because I am already booked on their wedding date! So, like yesterday’s proposal, Leah photographed Katie and Rhett’s engagement session. It doesn’t even matter that we didn’t have perky, pretty sunflowers anymore. There were so many other amazing spots at this Forks of the River engagement session. Also, Leah told me how hot it was and how they were all three melting, but honestly, I would have never known. Katie and Rhett looked AMAZING! I think that also calls for a big shout out to Bangs and Blush because they did Katie’s hair and makeup, and if she was melting…that hair and makeup held great!
