This couple is from Georgia, and they had an epically beautiful destination wedding in the Smoky Mountains. The morning of the wedding, they were supposed to get ready in two separate cabins, but cabins in the Smokies can be really hit or miss. It’s nearly impossible to tell online how it’s going to actually look in person so when they got to their cabins, it was a no go. Instead, they ended up getting ready at the DreamMore Resort and Black Fox Hotel. Not only did that give us a BEAUTIFUL setting for photos, but it also allowed the videographer and me to ride to the ceremony site in a limo with Lauren. It was a 30 minute drive or so, and we just chatted away. She talked about how wonderful David is. How thoughtful he is. How generous he is. She went on to tell me there are three things he was super adamant about for the wedding. 1) Having their reception at the DreamMore Resort, 2) Getting a limo for Lauren to ride to the ceremony and for them both to ride back to the reception in, and 3) Him wearing a kilt for the ceremony to root back to their Scottish ancestors.
Two of those three things were less for him and more for Lauren. Lauren has fantasized about having a princess-y wedding her whole life. She wanted the big gown, the fairytale view, and the dreamy flowers. He knew that having their reception at Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort would ultimately push that princess feel even more. Then, the limo did not come to pick him up. The limo picked her up. It took her and her sister to the ceremony. He was insistent on that because again, what better way to make your bride feel like a princess than to have her ride in a limo to and from her wedding ceremony? And the kilt…well…that’s just amazing.
Two of my favorite parts of David and Lauren’s wedding were during their ceremony. First, the vows they both wrote. Lauren had the crowd rolling when she incorporated the line, “I vow to always call you out on your bullshit,” and David had both himself and the guests in tears when he incorporated their Scottish heritage again when he told Lauren, “A chisel mo chroi,” which means “Pulse of my heart.” But then…then…they asked David’s two sons to come over to them where David and Lauren could say vows to the boys. They addressed the fact of it being a difficult and hard life transition. They committed to loving those boys together for years, and holy moly, you guys. I looked over at Jen (the videographer), and we were both wiping our tears. What in the world?
I had so much fun with Lauren and David for their DreamMore Resort wedding day! It was beautiful and a blast!
