Half way between Nashville and Knoxville is Cumberland Mountain State Park. I wouldn’t consider myself extremely well versed in my state parks, but I do know my way around a lot of campgrounds throughout Tennessee. However, I had never been here. I’m not quite sure how I missed it because it was quite possibly one of the prettiest campgrounds I’ve seen. It’s not every day you see huge stone arches with water gushing through right smack dab in the middle of a campground. I’m not sure how Kelsey and Justin found Cumberland Mountain State Park, but I sure am glad they did and that they asked me to document their day for them.
This wedding was so much fun. It was a very small, intimate wedding that took place in the Old Mill House at Cumberland Mountain State Park. Kelsey and Justin’s wedding was the last wedding to happen here before they closed it down for a year to do a full remodel. Kelsey and Justin came in the night before and decorated the entire Mill House. They set up a reception area, put fresh florals all over, and awaited for their wedding day to arrive. They had just the closest of the close friends and family attend and each one of them had tears in their eyes as they witnessed Kelsey and Justin reading their vows to one another from the cutest little notebooks. The water poured out from the bridge behind them and it was such a surreal moment. There is something to be said about getting married in the middle of nature. Two becoming one just as the relationship is between Christ and the Church in the middle of such an amazingly beautiful creation that is so evidently our Father. I love this whole concept. If you are looking for somewhere to have a small wedding in nature… I couldn’t recommend this place more!
