Sydney and Luke are having an intimate wedding on a Tuesday at Castleton Farms this fall. We did their Castleton Farms sunrise engagement session on a Thursday. Luke is from England, Sydney is from the US, and they met over their mutual interest in horses. It’s funny because in some of my posing, I’ll have couples whisper something mundane in the other one’s ear. After the first take, I’ll have them repeat it in a British accent. For Luke, however, I had him say it in his American accent. It was funny and got Sydney to smile that big, beautiful smile.
The weather recently has been so strange. I’ve probably written about this in every blog post recently, but I have to say it again. Days will be calling for 85% chance of rain. Even down to the hour. Luke and Sydney drove up from Florida for this so postponing to another day was not an option. As we approached their engagement session, the forecast was not in our favor. I kept watching and watching and watching. Finally, I decided to text them to see if they wanted to switch to a Castleton Farms sunrise engagement session instead of sunset because the weather was looking far more promising at the beginning of the day than it was at the end. Sydney responded with, “Yes! Whatever it takes because I want these amazing photos!” So, we woke up at 6 in the morning (Sydney even earlier) to get to Castleton by 7:30 for their sunrise engagement session, and it was totally worth it. We had sun some of the time, clouds other times, and it was absolutely stunning. I got to shoot on the opposite side of the property from what I usually do because of the position of the sun, and it opened my eyes to new spots I had never shot in before. It was early, but when the evening came with dark, heavy clouds and random spouts of rain, I was so thankful we did it that morning! I mean, just take a look for yourself. It was gorgeous!
