Twenty years ago, Hope and Isaiah Massey woke up on their wedding day to a forecast that completely changed their plans. They had envisioned an outdoor wedding, but relentless rain forced them to pivot at the last minute and move everything into a nearby church. It wasn’t what they originally planned, but it was the beginning of a beautiful marriage and a life centered around faith, family, and love.
Fast forward exactly twenty years later, and their vow renewal at Trailhead Venues felt almost poetic.
For days leading up to their vow renewal, East Tennessee had been full of sunshine. The days afterward were gorgeous too. But on this exact day the rain poured down almost nonstop. It honestly felt like a full-circle moment. The difference this time was that Hope and Isaiah weren’t scrambling to make backup plans. They intentionally chose a venue that could beautifully accommodate whatever the weather decided to do, and Trailhead Venues could not have been more perfect for it.
The covered spaces throughout the venue created such a cozy and intimate atmosphere for the entire celebration. But my favorite location of the day was easily the greenhouse portraits. Between the black-and-white checkered floors, the soft natural light, and the rain falling against the windows, it created the dreamiest setting imaginable. Some of my favorite images from the entire day were taken while looking through the rain-covered glass at Hope and Isaiah together. The combination of romance, nostalgia, and quiet joy in those moments felt incredibly special.
What stood out most throughout the day, though, was not the rain or even the beautiful venue. It was the undeniable love this family has for the Lord. Listening to Hope and Isaiah speak about their marriage, their journey, and their faith made it abundantly clear that their relationship has been deeply rooted in something far greater than themselves. Their boys, Ridge and Kruz, were woven so naturally into the celebration, making the entire day feel less like an event and more like a testimony of God’s faithfulness over two decades of marriage.
Being trusted to preserve a moment this meaningful for the Massey family was such an honor. Rain and all, this Trailhead Venues Wedding was full of beauty, purpose, and the kind of love that only grows deeper with time.
