There are some couples where you can immediately tell the wedding day is going to feel deeply personal, beautifully intentional, and completely reflective of who they are. And that’s exactly how I feel about Paige and Brett. Their spring engagement at Knoxville Botanical Garden made me more excited for when they say “I do” later this month.
I actually first met Paige and her mom at an open house hosted by Spaces in the City, but before that, we had already spent time talking through venues, dates, and all the moving pieces that come with wedding planning. One thing became clear very quickly: Paige is a pink girl through and through. Not a “touches of blush” kind of girl. She wants pink bursting through every part of the wedding day, and honestly, I absolutely love it.
One thing they were a little nervous about was how all that pink would translate inside a more urban venue like The Press Room. Most of the weddings I’ve photographed with heavy pink floral designs have taken place at estate venues or garden settings. Where the softness naturally blends into the environment. But the more we talked about it, the more excited I became about the contrast. There’s something so striking about bold, feminine florals filling an industrial downtown space.
And now, I’m completely convinced it’s going to be stunning.
Last weekend, I photographed another wedding at The Press Room. They had the brightest fuchsia flowers overflowing the flower boxes right outside the venue. Against the brick and urban textures, the color absolutely came alive. It was the perfect reminder that pink doesn’t compete with an industrial venue, it transforms it. I truly cannot wait to see Paige’s vision come to life with the entire room overflowing in shades of pink.
For their engagement session, we chose Knoxville Botanical Garden while everything was still lush, blooming, and fully glowing with spring color. It ended up being the perfect setting for them. The softness of the gardens paired beautifully with Paige’s style and gave us the dreamiest backdrop for documenting this season of engagement before wedding month officially arrives.
These two were effortless together the entire session. Calm, sweet, and clearly so excited for what’s ahead. There’s an ease between them that makes photographing them feel natural in the best way. And if their engagement session is any indication of what their wedding day will feel like, it cannot get here fast enough.
