6 Week Old + Big Brother Studio Session
There’s something incredibly meaningful about getting to photograph the same family through multiple seasons of life. This studio family session at Highlight Studio with the Mattison family was one of those moments I’ll never get over.
I’ve had the privilege of photographing this sweet family several times now, and watching Wesley grow has been such a joy. I first met him as a tiny newborn, and again as a curious toddler. Now, he’s stepped into his role as a big brother. And let me tell you, he is absolutely owning it.
Baby Reid made his debut for his six week session, and he is just as adorable as can be. That fresh baby stage at six weeks is such a sweet spot. Still tiny and snuggly, but with a little more alertness starting to peek through. It’s the kind of age where you get the best of both worlds.
Now, if you’ve ever tried to plan photos with a six-week-old and a three-year-old, you already know there’s only so much “planning” you can actually count on. But that’s where the magic is. You go in with a loose vision, but you stay ready for the in-between moments. Those are the ones that end up meaning the most.
There were so many moments during this session that completely melted me. Especially the way Wesley interacted with his baby brother. The cuddles, the curiosity, the little glances. There are a handful of images of him that are truly to die for. The kind of photos that don’t just show what this season looks like, but what it feels like to be right in the middle of it.
What made this session even more special is that we were back in the same studio where we photographed Wesley’s six week session. Being able to return to Highlight Studio for Reid’s photos felt so fitting. Like honoring the beginning of one story while documenting the start of another.
