UT Gardens Watermelon Session

This family did the full shebang for their baby’s first year package. They got all the things. Maternity, fresh 48, newborn, and 3/6/9/12 months. I also photographed their wedding, and in the midst of Ava’s first year, I photographed Dusty’s brother’s wedding. To say I feel more like a friend than a service provider is such an understatement.

Brittney and I were texting a few days before Ava’s 1 year watermelon session. We talked about how sad we were that her first year is over and we don’t have any more sessions on the books. I always look forward to working with them. They are seriously the easiest family to work with! Even for Ava’s 1 year watermelon session, the weather was forecasted to be raining. I reached out that morning and asked Brittney to reschedule since it was 75% chance of rain during our shooting time. As the morning went on though, it moved up and up and up, and then, it was ending at 4pm. However, it kept changing every hour and it was being very unpredictable. We were texting all morning watching it, at first we were postponing, then we were doing it, then we were postponing again, then we were doing it earlier, then later, then postponing, and finally we landed on doing it and I’m so glad we did. It ended up being perfect and SO freaking adorable. Going back and forth is such a pain. It’s inconvenient and just when you think you can relax the rest of the evening, the session is back on. But for Brittney and Dusty, they are just easy, go-with-flow type people and were totally fine with the back and forth.

In case you were looking for an alternative to the smash cake idea, watermelons are perfect too. Cut a few up, and let them go to town. I also vote for an overall jumper because just look at Ava. I can’t even handle the cuteness!
