Whitestone Inn Wedding
This past weekend, I photographed Ashlee and Micah’s wedding at Whitestone Country Inn. Prior to doing their wedding, I met them at the Chimney Tops campground and did some engagement photos. I learned a little of their story then, but it wasn’t until their wedding that I gained a fuller awareness of just how sweet their story is. Without divulging ALL of their details here and basically writing a novel, I’ll give you the cliff notes.
Ashlee has a neurological disorder that caused her to wake up paralyzed one morning. One year before her wedding, she was in a wheelchair going to intense therapy sessions learning how to use her body as the feeling came back into her muscles. Then enters Micah.
One of my favorite parts of the day was when Ashlee’s dad gave a little speech at the beginning of the reception. He described Ashlee as being such a smiley kid her whole life. Her nickname was usually “smiley,” and she was known for lighting up a room when she walked in. When she got sick, the smile was replaced with pain, but she never stopped fighting. As she went to numerous doctor appointments in search for answers, that light-up-the-room smile was gone. Until Micah. And at this point in his speech, every single one in the room was crying. He looked right into Micah’s eyes and said, “You brought it back.” Talk about boo-hooing.
That is just a glimpse into their story together. How brave, courageous, and overall amazing it is that they are together and shining the light of Christ to the world.
I’m so utterly grateful to have gotten to be a part of their Whitestone wedding day. I can’t wait to share more, but for now, here is a highlight of their day!
