Maggie and Zach are now officially married and I photographed them at Volunteer Landing. I made an instagram post with one of their sneak peeks on how they did it, but just in case you didn’t see, I want to share a little of their story to encourage you future brides out there. They have been together for years. They decided it was time to get married at the same time that Maggie’s sister was also getting married, so the two sisters started wedding planning together. Long story short, Maggie and Zach end up postponing their wedding to spring 2017 and I photograph Molly’s wedding in fall 2016. As the day is rolling closer and closer, Maggie and Zach kind of freeze the planning process again and wait to reschedule the wedding. 2017 rolls by and as we are going into spring of 2018, I get a message from Maggie saying that her and Zach just went and eloped and they need “just married” pictures! I think society is telling couples today that after they decide it’s time to get married, they have to plan this big elaborate wedding and they have to invite all their parents’ friends and have a huge bridal party and a fancy dress and… well, yeah, you get it. But if that is not your style, that definitely isn’t what you should do! Like Maggie and Zach. They tried it… twice… and ultimately went back to the root of who they are and did their own thing. They eloped. Don’t get me wrong. I love weddings. Everything about them. But ultimately, I love what fits the couple best and sometimes that’s not the big wedding. Stay true to who you are as a couple. Make your decision, own it, and love it. Then meet me at Volunteer Landing to have some just married portraits done because it was really super fabulous ;-).
