I joined Amanda and her girls at The Standard for the first half of the day. As I sat on the floor shooting all the bridal details, I listened as the girls literally had the time of their lives. There is a core group that have all been friends since high school. At the rehearsal dinner, there was a slideshow playing throughout the night. I glanced up every now and then to see prom photos, girl trips, and high school memories. When I finally met this group, I quickly realized how special of a friendship they all had with Amanda. Not only to last through high school, but all the way through college, and into adulthood. Now, getting to stand by Amanda on her wedding day. While I always see really great friendships on a wedding day, I rarely see a friend group this large lasting over so many years and transitions. It’s truly remarkable.
Fast forward to the ceremony at Central United Methodist Church. A short 5 minute drive from The Standard and a gorgeous spot for all of their bride and groom portraits. The videographer team was from Nashville so I explained the church to them. It’s one of my favorite Downtown Knoxville churches to take bride and groom portraits. The lighting always lands so pretty, and the landscaping is gorgeous. The front steps are where my heart truly lies though. When you get to the post-ceremony photos, please take a moment for those stairs + doors + floral arrangements. Gosh. So stinking pretty.
The biggest takeaway I had from Amanda and Parker’s wedding at The Standard was how much they truly made it about them. There were things they set as a priority at the beginning of the planning phase and they stayed true to that priority. It was important for them to not see each other before the ceremony, and they did a really great job making that possible by having the girls and guys get ready at two separate locations. They really wanted to mix and mingle with all their guests at their reception, and they made a point to go chat with everyone for at least a couple minutes throughout the night. Something they always do as a couple since they met each other was to watch sunsets together. Therefore, they prioritized their sunset portraits and even stopped to take in the absolutely gorgeous sunset they had on their wedding day. I love that they had the wedding day of their dreams. I also love that they hired me to capture it all for them. It was truly an honor!
