Strawberry Creek Wedding
This wedding was full of some of my favorite people. Way way way way back, 5 years ago, I photographed Tori & Landon’s wedding. Then, a couple years ago, I photographed Taylor & Ty’s wedding. Now, Landon’s sister, Marena, married Taylor’s brother, Jonathan, and they had their wedding at the Stables at Strawberry Creek. I also have to add in one more group of people. Marena works at Hope Resource Center. So, surrounding me were the amazing Allen and Mills families and the Hope family.
So, I think Marena and Jonathan are two of the sweetest people I’ve ever known. Both of my favorite parts of their day occurred at the ceremony. First, was the foot washing. I haven’t seen this in awhile, but it’s always been one of my favorite things. What made this one even more special was them washing each other’s feet. Jonathan sat on the bench, and Marena sat on the stool in front of him. They put their foreheads together, held hands, and Jonathan prayed for them. I saw tears wet their cheeks, and this moment was indescribably beautiful.
The other ceremony favorite was at the end. CH, their officiant, was pronouncing them husband and wife and said, “Because they have exchanged their vows before God and these witnesses, have pledged their commitment each to the other, and have declared the same by joining hands and by exchanging rings, I now pronounce that they are husband and wife.” Jonathan was expecting the next thing to come out of his mouth to be, “You may now kiss the bride,” and he was coming in hot for that kiss. Instead, CH said, “Those whom God hath joined together, let no one put asunder.” Jonathan pulled back really fast, and every single person was cracking up. THEN, he said, “You may now kiss the bride,” and Jonathan swooped Marena back into a dip with a fist pump. It was flawless.
