The Press Room
The Press room is a newer wedding venue close to downtown Knoxville. It’s actually on my side of town between fountain city and downtown Knoxville right off Broadway. When it was being renovated, my husband and I would drive by and say, “What is that?!?! It looks so cool with all the Edison bulbs hanging from the ceiling.” We speculated it was going to be an event space, and sure enough. I got a post card from The Press Room in the mail inviting me to their open house. As soon as I walked in the from doors, I was obsessed. Honestly, I think the Edison bulbs are what have me totally swooning. And the amazing bridal suite. It definitely doesn’t hurt to have the exposed brick everywhere, a cool loft area, and the black and white contrast on the outside…but those lights in the back ground when I’m shooting from the outside looking in and throughout the reception creates this super dreamy bokeh. The same that Christmas lights do, and who doesn’t love Christmas lights?!?! Anywho…so, we were invited to the open house, and while I was there, I was sharing video after video after video on my Insta Story. Brittany saw my story, literally just 3-4 months before her wedding and instantly fell in love with The Press Room. She immediately inquired with them about the cost and if it would even be possible to switch everything over from her current venue to The Press Room. Well, I think it’s safe to assume they made it happen, and I am so glad. Brittany and Chase’s theme was classic black and white with greenery, and there could not have been a more perfect venue for them. I mean, the building itself is black and white. It’s very classy, just like this couple, and it fit like a glove.

These are the type of people that Brittany & Chase are. When I showed up to the Cook Loft off Gay Street to start photographing the bridal details and getting ready photos, I arrived to a gift from the bride. On her wedding day, she was thinking about everyone else. She had gifts for all the girls, for her mom, for her flower girls, and for me. Of all the people present, she did not have to do anything for me. Fast forward to the end of the reception, and she and her mom gave me a very generous tip.
Now, I want to go on a tangent for a second. Feel free to bypass this entire paragraph if you just want to get on to the couple. Let’s touch on this tipping matter because I think there are a lot of different thoughts about whether or not you should tip your wedding photographer. Let me ask you this though. Do you tip servers? Do you tip hair dressers? Do you tip nail techs? Do you tip bartenders? You know why you tip these people, right? Because of the service they provide while doing the thing you’ve purchased from them. You actually pay them for their product. You pay them for the hair cut, for the drink, for the food, for the manicure. You tip them for their personal service that they provide to you, and usually, your tip is based on how well they performed that service. So, the question at hand of whether or not you should tip your service providing wedding photographer, I think the answer is yes – but only if you feel like they performed the service well. It doesn’t have to be a lot. You don’t have to do 20% gratuity like you would at a restaurant for obvious reasons, but literally anything just to say thank you. It doesn’t even really have to be cash. It could be a cute little coffee mug that says “oh snap” with a picture of a camera on it. But this is the type of person Brittany is. She tipped and gifted.
Okay, back to the amazing people that are Chase & Brittany. So, on Monday Brittany texted me this super sweet text just saying thank you. Thank you for everything, and that she is so thankful she gained a friend. I posted her text on my story so you might have seen it. But it was so sweet and so thoughtful and again, not something that she had to do. But she is so thoughtful. And she woke up on Sunday after the wedding crying because she didn’t write as long of a letter as Chase wrote her. Of course, he hugged her with a little laugh and told her her letter was perfect. I have all of these personal testimonies of the bride’s kindness, but I want to tell you that this is exactly how Chase is, too. I saw it on his wedding day. I saw how he treated Brittany, his guys, his mom. I watched it all unfold, and I have to say that I think that Brittany and Chase are utterly perfect together. I cannot wait to see where God is going to lead their relationship!
