The day before Houston and Christina’s wedding at The Cedars, I had another wedding in Knoxville. The send off was at 9:30pm, and it was a 3 hour drive to our hotel in Georgia. When I arranged these two weddings, I didn’t think anything about it because weddings this time of year usually don’t require me to start earlier than 10am. As we started digging into their timeline though, I realized Houston and Christina planned to have a Catholic ceremony. Catholic ceremonies work around mass times, which means they are always earlier in the day. This means our start time was at 7:30am so we could be finished by their 1pm ceremony time. I went into this weekend knowing this. I was mentally prepared for the long midnight drive, a hotel kind of sleep, an early alarm, and two 10-12 hour wedding days back to back. And you know what? I didn’t even need to be mentally prepared. Both of these couples had such intense emotionally charged days that I was honored to feed off of that. It was impossible not to ride on their high because it was just so present. It was thick in the air, and all of the people around them breathed it in like oxygen. Every single person had happy tears puddle in their eyes at some point in the day because how could they not??? The joy and the rich emotion was everywhere, and I am here for that, you guys. I love photographing emotion. I usually try to evoke it to pull people out of their shell, but I didn’t even have to on these wedding days. It was just there. All of it.
Houston and Christina are just precious. They are both so sweet, and together…oh my gosh…lets just say #goals. I have never shot at The Cedars in Acworth, GA, but oh my gosh, it fit Houston and Christina so well. It was so elegant and classic and stunning. I drove over during the morning with Christina to check it out, and I literally could not pick my jaw up off the ground. Every corner I turned was just more and more gorgeous, and I hadn’t even gone inside yet. I wish I could see every single venue I shoot at like I do the first time I see it. Like reading your favorite book for the first time every time you read it. It’s the best feeling.
