As I drove up to the Smokies where the Bonen family was staying, I didn’t know what to expect. When I meet families at mountain cabins, it is so hit or miss on what I show up to. Most of the time, they are packed in on one mountain side with little to no space between them. Super limited parking. And while you can see the view off the back deck, it’s impossible to capture it in camera because of the lighting situation. The Bonen’s cabin, however, was a stand alone with a great view of the mountains. There was also an open area beside the cabin to be able to see that view even in my camera!
It was a SUPER hot day, and after we finished capturing the groups with the mountain view, I offered to them to walk down to the driveway. There was a section where there was grass growing up in the middle of the driveway and some taller, more whimsical grass pouring in from either edge. The lighting was perfect, and even better, there was shade for everyone to stand while they waited their turn. I think we all liked the second location better, but of course, we had to use the Smoky Mountains as a backdrop, too.
This family was so kind and so great to work with. I’m so excited to share their gallery with them!
