This post is similar to those mini session posts that I used to do a loooooong time ago. Because this day, right before Halloween, I had the absolute honor of getting to take pictures of a whole bunch of families that are a part of mine and Dustin’s community group. We have been doing life with these people for over a year now. We’ve seen four babies born, two couples help launch a new church in East Knoxville, and one couple move to China to serve as missionaries for two years. Every single one of these people have encouraged, inspired and supported Dustin and I throughout the last year or so. We are so beyond thankful for them.
In case you don’t know what a community group is, it’s a small group. In case you don’t know what a small group is, it’s basically a group of families from the same church that get together once a week to study the bible, pray for each other, and hold each other accountable. Our community group is stemmed from a church called Shoreline in West Knoxville. It’s a phenomenal place that Dustin and I are proud to call our home church. Yes, we live in fountain city. Yes, it takes us 30 minutes to get to church in the morning. Yes, it is totally and completely worth it. Our church is so full of doers. We can honestly look around and see so many people being the hands and feet of Christ. From the families that open their homes to community groups, to the people that are serving as missionaries both long term and short term, to the group of people that just branched off of Shoreline to launch Hope Fellowship in East Knoxville… so. full. of doers. It has been SUCH a spiritual challenge and reminder that we are not put here just to worship and be happy… we were put here to serve Jesus and that will look different all the time. Sometimes, that will look uncomfortable. Sometimes that will look like sacrifice. Sometimes, that will look terrifying. But when you’re surrounded by a group of people like the members of Shoreline Church, it makes those uncomfortable, sacrificial, terrifying moments a little better because they remind each other all the time how close Jesus is and how He makes anything and everything doable and possible.
So if you don’t have a home church, please email me (amanda@amandamayphotos.com)… I want to introduce you to ours and take you to lunch. I promise you won’t be disappointed!
