Abbey and David got engaged in January 2015. It was just shortly after that, that they hired me to be their wedding photographer. Abbey kept telling me things about how amazing the Sam Davis Home was but it wasn’t until I got there that I really understood what she was saying. It is so stunning. It reminded me SO much of the Charleston plantations that couples get married at all the time. In fact, it’s really similar to the Charleston wedding I shot a couple of years ago (click here if you want to see it). So to all those Tennessee brides out there that really want the Charleston “look” without having all your guests travel, the Sam Davis Home is an EXCELLENT option! It may not have the hanging moss, but it does have a GORGEOUS cotton field. Which, by the way, blooms in the fall, the most amazing season to get married in. I literally could not say enough great things about the beauty of this place.
But lets get to my favorite part of the wedding day. I’m sure you will notice through the images below that David is quite tall. Abbey is not a short girl, but the height on David gives them a good foot difference. You can imagine that when standing in front of each other, that David is looking down and Abbey is looking up pretty significantly. Well they figured out a way to not have to do that throughout their entire wedding ceremony.. they had Abbey step up on a little box once she got down the aisle that made them a little closer to eye level on each other. It was so adorable. Everyone in the seats giggled a little when they realized what the box was being used for. But that wasn’t the only giggling during the ceremony. Abbey and David had an uncle marry them and he had the guests laughing (literally out loud) throughout the first half of the ceremony. Afterwards I told him what a great job he did and asked him if he did this all the time… he responded with “oh no, I hate public speaking”… I would have NEVER been able to tell that.
I am so thankful for Abbey and David letting me be a part of their GORGEOUS wedding day. It was truly an honor to get to document this truly magical day for them.
