This couple had their ceremony at Erin Presbyterian Church in Bearden. Afterwards they had their party at the Relix Variety Theatre close to downtown Knoxville! The Relix Variety Theatre is such a cool venue… and probably one of the things they are most well known for is this HUGE art piece on the wall right when you walk in the front doors. It is a gigantic American Flag made out of a bunch of used wallets. Yes… wallets. Like the kind you put money in and keep in your purse or back pocket. But they also have a super awesome bar and a stage and a huge white wall to project movies onto. And as a photographer, my favorite part is what they offer outside their doors as a backdrop to pictures. The cutest little area of exposed brick and clean sidewalks with a downtown feel. The sun sets at an angle in front of the Relix Variety Theatre too so it provides some AMAZING sunset pictures! You’ll see them below… don’t you worry!
My absolute favorite part of this wedding was the couple’s style and their first look. So we’ll start with their style. Madeline wore a BHLDN bridal gown… which is Anthropology‘s bridal line. What female doesn’t love Anthro and every single they sell? I haven’t met one yet. She also had a head piece made of fresh florals by LB Floral that looked EXACTLY like something Rifle Paper Company would produce. Is this starting to sound like your dream style? Yeah. Me too. Then head on over to Ryan and he literally has the best fade going on in the hair department. When I told him, he said that it was a girl that worked at Salon Azure with Madeline and that she does it BY HAND! Are you serious?? She is an artist. and so impressive. Pair that stellar cut with his blush bow tie and plaid navy suit and he was straight dapper. They were just so stinking adorable and SUCH models. Just wait to see this beauty happening below!
Now lets discuss their first look! It was occurring in the middle of the day and Erin Presbyterian does not provide a ton of shady options. As I walked around the church trying to decide where I was going to have it happen, I found a place behind the dumpsters. ha! Literally… it was behind the dumpsters but it was perfect and gorgeous and had this beautiful green backdrop with just the right amount of shade. We finished up with bridesmaid photos in the same spot and instead of walking AAAALLLL the way back, Madeline hung out behind the brick wall hiding the dumpsters while I went and got Ryan. As we headed to the opposite end of the property I asked him if he was nervous. He said no way… I’m ready. With pure confidence. I love that response. We finally got over to the shade and I got him in place and then had Madeline come out. Still with his back turned, I fluffed her train, pulled all her hair to the front, and waited for her to tell him when to turn around. It was beautiful. He looked at her with beaming eyes and they came together with the sweetest, warmest embrace. Tears strolling. I swear, these two were made for my camera. I could photograph them all day ‘er day 😉
