A Wedding at The Press Room

This Press Room wedding day was a little unique. These two were supposed to get married in May. I was already booked on their wedding date so they hired one of my associates (Leah Nicole Photo). Then, COVID hit, and they had to reschedule to July like many of my April and May brides had to do. July starts creeping up on us, and they moved it again. This time to August. Their original date was on a Saturday, but because they are SO gracious to all of their vendors, they opted for a Friday (you guys, I cannot tell you how gracious this really is. thank you from all of us for doing that Katie & Rhett!!!!). During the second reschedule, they decided to go ahead and elope on the front porch of their parent’s home with their family present before getting away on a nice beach vacay. Leah was able to photograph that for them as well! And now, fast forward to their wedding celebration, and here is Leah again, just killing it. I’m so thankful to her because I watched her kindle this beautiful friendship with an #AMPbride, and I just have no words to express how truly wonderful she has been as an associate throughout this entire journey. If you don’t follow her, do so (@leahnicolepix) and support her local business! She ended up having a triple header weekend this past weekend with her middle one being in West Virginia. Rather than make her drive all night long, I came and relieved her after the ceremony so she could go ahead and hit the road. Normally, I have email communications with my brides who choose the associate option, but I don’t get a lot of face to face contact. I got that interaction with Katie and Rhett at their post-ceremony events, however, and I’m so thankful! It was so stinking sweet and absolutely stunning!

One of the things that stuck out to me most about their Press Room wedding day was after the ceremony when I introduced myself to Katie. She was on cloud nine and was an actual bombshell of a bride. I told her how much I liked her dress, and she said that earlier in the day when Leah brought the dress out of the closet to photograph it, she just started weeping. All of her bridesmaids turned and asked if she was okay and what was wrong. She looked up at her dress and said I’m finally getting to wear it. I’ve had so many fittings. I’ve gotten my hopes up so many times. But today, I finally get to put it on and walk down the aisle and it just makes me so happy. As she was telling me this, it also opened my eyes to the realities of all these couples having to postpone. Whether they elope or not, it’s some girls’ dreams to wear the beautiful white gown, gather with all of their best life people, walk down the aisle with that powerful locked eye contact, and do all the things that come with a wedding. Do the morning getting ready sesh, the bridal party hang out, the introductions, the special dances, the bouquet toss, the line dances, the cake cutting… and that is okay. It is okay to want those things and it is okay to say that it SUCKS having to push it off and push it off again and again. It’s also okay if that’s not your thing. It’s so okay that that is definitely not everyone’s dream. But it’s here ladies of Knoxville (I wish I could say it was happening for the whole world, but it’s not and I am so grateful that I live in an area that is letting life kind-of happen again). We are having weddings, the bigger ones and the smaller ones, we are taking precautions, and if you’re not, you’re okay with the risk. It is a beautiful thing, and I love that we can all celebrate in that together!

Okay… I’m going to step off the soap box and just say a big fat congrats to Katie & Rhett! I hope you love your sneak peek!
