Wow is all Cat Kissel and I could say as we drove through The Preserve Resort to find the bride & groom. Every turn we made it seemed like there was a different and unique view of these gorgeous mountains. This couple came all the way from Ohio to get married in the Smoky Mountains. You would guess with such a big distance that they would have a teeny tiny wedding because surely no one would make that drive…but you’re guess would be wrong. They were surrounded by at least 100 people who celebrated with them so joyfully. It was very cool to be a part of and watch as they all loved on this couple. As you scroll through below, you will notice that I took significantly more pictures of the sun shining so harshly on the faces of my subjects. Usually, I always put the sun shining to the backs of their heads to avoid squinting and yucky shadows, but at The Preserve Resort, all of the best views have the sun shining right onto them. Lots of sun is SO great for landscape pictures and for enjoying your views as guests, but it’s super bright when it’s shining right into your eyes. So, you’ll notice that these may look a little different than what you’re used to but just as beautiful all the same!
One thing this couple did that I really really loved was to write some vows to one another that they shared during their first look. It’s always sweet when couples write their own vows, but I think sometimes the fact that they are reading them in front of all their guests can cause them to hold some things back. So, doing it privately was so so smart and allowed the first look to get that much more personal and emotional. And they wrote them down in the cutest of little notebooks that they can hold on to and reread anytime they want. I thought it would be a very very very cool thing to bring them out on their anniversary or any time they were in a major fight. Anyways, I would recommend it to those of you planning on doing a first look!
