This past weekend was one for the books. If you follow along with Amanda May Photos on Instagram, then you saw that I had a triple header weekend. It wasn’t just any triple header weekend though. It looked a little like this…Thursday night I shot this sweet couple’s rehearsal dinner on the Volunteer Princess River Boat. It was so neat, and I got to be a part of a very intimate party thrown just for them, their closest friends, and their family. We docked at the Volunteer Marina around 9:45pm, and I went to bed around 10:30pm, as soon as I got home and had all of their images downloaded to my hard drive. The next morning I arrived at Katelyn’s getting ready location at 10:30am to kick off her Hunter Valley Farm Pavilion wedding day with some awesome detail shots. The day went perfect, and we did their send off at 11pm. That meant I laid down at midnight with an alarm set for 3:30am to drive to Dayton, Ohio for a dear friend’s wedding. It’s a 4.5 hour drive so I packed up my laptop and hard drive, culled some of this wedding on the way while Dustin drove, and snuck in a little 1 hour nap because shew…did I also mention that I’m 30 weeks pregnant? The Ohio wedding (that hopefully you’ll see Thursday on here) also went amazing, and their 10pm send off got me in bed at 11pm. We set our alarms for 6:30am to leave Ohio by 7:30 am so I could be back for a wedding in Athens, TN on Sunday by 1:30 pm. I culled the rest of this wedding on our drive back south and had another glorious, beautiful wedding day on Sunday. That brings me to today. I didn’t sleep in because hello, toddler mom, but I did sleep REALLY well and had an awesome breakfast with Erin Fox and Brittany Sidwell at one of my favorite breakfast places…First Watch! Nap time was spent getting this blog post ready and as I’m typing this, I may or may not be dozing off between paragraphs :-).
There’s one reason I want you to know all this. I’m sure you think I’m crazy for taking on a weekend like that, much less doing it while I am pregnant. Here’s the thing, y’all. I LOVE what I do. Also, I LOVE my couples. I am absolutely SO honored when someone chooses me as their wedding photographer, but I don’t just work with everyone. I work with brides who WANT to work with me. I work with brides that I can develop friendships and relationship with. Couples that sync well with my personality and brand and want the type of images I produce. So, if there is a way for me to be at your wedding, and we fit together perfectly, I will make it happen and serve you just as if you were my ONLY couple. No matter how busy I might be.
One of my favorite things that happened at this pavilion wedding was the first looks. There were four first looks spread throughout this day… 1) The bridesmaids seeing Katelyn for the first time, 2) Katelyn’s dad seeing her for the first time, 3) Gooch seeing Katelyn for the first time, and 4) Katelyn’s brother seeing her for the first time. Each time, the reactions were absolutely priceless. There was so much emotion filling this day in every way possible. Katelyn kept saying what is happening to me?? Why am I being so emotional??? I am not an emotional person!! I know it was because her day was truly amazing in every single way. All the hard work she had put into planning it was coming to fruition and seeing it all together was overwhelmingly beautiful. And I’m not just talking about the visual details. I mean the people that she chose to stand by her side. The moments she chose to share between her dad, her brother and herself. The very sweet interactions with her groom and the amount of time that they got to spend together on a very busy day. The vendors that she hired to be a part of her day. And the list really does go on and on. It was an absolutely amazing way to kick off such a crazy Amanda May Photos weekend and I seriously could not be more honored that I was the photographer she chose to capture her day in its entirety.
So, here are the highlights of Katelyn and Gooch’s Hunter Valley Farm Pavilion wedding day from this past Friday. I have already planned a couple of these to go on my website makeover that I’m doing in July while I’m on maternity leave!
