I was running through Old North Knoxville one day and came across these beauties. Have I mentioned how much I love this city??? Because I really really love this city, especially Old North Knoxville. I only photographed the “Knoxville, TN” one but there are four at this underpass and they’re all similar to this one, only different colors and different scripts. Underpasses are surprisingly kind of awesome to use for picture locations. They provide shade, so no dealing with harsh sunlight and they have a “window-effect” where the light coming in sweeps horizontally across the subject… which I LOVE. So when this couple told me they would come and model for me here before we went to their original locations, I was super pumped. FYI to any future couples… I’m totally game for going back here for more engagement pictures if you wanna join!
Then we went to Church Street United Methodist Church. I’ve always driven by this church and thought how gorgeous it was. I didn’t know anyone who attended there though so I figured I wasn’t allowed to just go take pictures at it. Come to find out, their courtyard is open to the public! Chase’s sister took prom pictures there, another sibling did senior pictures, and now Chase and Brittany had engagement pictures. The arches on the front are definitely my favorite, but the vines creeping up the wall beside the stairs is also absolutely gorgeous… oh and all the big wood arched doors! But the absolute best part is that the sun sets to the back of the church so it gives this sweet halo around the subject.
I love that Brittany and Chase allowed me to shoot in two locations that I’ve never shot at before. I absolutely LOVE shooting in new spots. One of the reasons why I love out of town couples… it forces me to shoot in new places!! These two are getting married next year but I already know their wedding is going to be stunning! As we walked around, Brittany and I talked about little details that her and Chase had picked out. Every single one she told me about got me that much more excited. But guess what?! You’re just going to have to wait and see the end result for yourself because I’m not giving any of her secrets away!
