Little Hannah Lloyd is the daughter of two amazing parents who serve in the Air Force. One of which I went to high school with. It’s normal for mommas to have to feed their little baby in the middle of the newborn photo session. But this time when Lauren took Hannah to feed her, Josh sat in the room with me while I broke down my newborn setup. We talked about being new parents, going to church and their roles in the military. I’m not super knowledgable when it comes to the Air Force… or really any branch. My grandpa served in the military, but he was retired by the time I was born and we never really talked about it much. So as my curiosity kicked in and I listened to Josh share about some of his deployments, Lauren’s deployments, their future deployments, what they do daily… my appreciation for them grew by the second. Of course I’ve always respected our military members and everything they do for America. But when I asked Josh about what it looked like now that they had a baby and he said that they could both be deployed at the same time, leaving Hannah behind here in the states and would happily go serve their country. I think my gratitude quadrupled. For those of you who are not parents, you won’t understand until you become parents. No one can possibly describe to you the ache you feel leaving your child for a few hours, much less weeks, months and maybe even years. And to those with no children that sounds ridiculous, but I’m telling you… it’s like an extension of your body being ripped away and taking bits and pieces of your heart. But these two love our country so much, are so brave and courageous, they would leave their little Hannah to go fight for our freedom. So. Much. Respect. Thank you guys. seriously. for everything that you have done, are doing and will do in the future. I don’t throw around the term Hero lightly, but your out there being heroes.
I don’t want to become controversial, but I do think it’s important to say during this specific time, that we should respect the flag and the national anthem because of people like Josh and Lauren.
