Newborn Session at The Studio at Fountain City

I love having AMP alumni come back to me for newborn photos. A newborn session is so much different than normal portraits. They are a lot slower, more time consuming, and quieter. We are in one area shooting in different spots vs. walking all over a park or downtown. I have a sound machine and heater going and work hard to get one pose and shoot lots of that one pose.

A side effect I love of this style of session is getting to catch with my AMP couples. We have time to just chat in between shots and while I’m styling the next photo. Kari and Stefan are building a house right now and getting to hear all about their plans and the decisions was so much fun. Dustin and I flipped a house a few years ago, and while it was a TON of work, we loved it. Coincidentally, the timing is the exact same for Kari and Stefan as it was for Dustin and me. We both started the process during a pregnancy and finished the process with a newborn. It was challenging, but it was so so rewarding when it was all done.

Kari and Stefan have chosen to do a baby’s first year package with me, which means for our next session, I’ll get to come to their new house and see sweet Cadence’s nursery!

Also, I brought Hazel’s bow collection out to the studio to use for Cadence and realized what a major bow buying problem I have lol. And she doesn’t even really wear them anymore 🤦‍♀️ Oh well, they were cute on her in the pre-ponytail stage, and now, I get to use them on sweet little newborns in my studio!
