Micro Wedding at The Magnolia
Samantha and Aaron had a micro wedding at The Magnolia with my associate photographer, Cyd Weeks. Originally, however, they were scheduled to have me as their photographer. Over the last 14 years of wedding photography, I’ve only had to have an associate fill in for me a handful of times. Like 3 times. So, when my husband’s company announced their end of year celebration trip fell within the date of Samantha and Aaron’s wedding, I immediately reached out to them about options. I showed them Cyd’s work and explained the situation. The grace and understanding they showed was so beautiful. Instead of being angry or hateful, they chose kindness and compassion. Samantha even used the words, “If you have the opportunity to go with your husband, I hope you don’t even think twice. Your photography is beautiful, but living your life and being there to support your husband is even more important than your wonderful photos!” You guys, it’s really hard to have these conversations as a small business owner. Not knowing what blowback or reaction it could cause. But when I read Samantha’s email, her words gave me chills. Her reaction is one I pray I would have if the roles were reversed. Such grace and such kindness. And I cannot thank Cyd more for stepping in when I could not and serving Samantha and Aaron so beautifully at their micro wedding at The Magnolia.
