I have SUCH a crazy story behind this couple. Before I jump into their amazing Downtown Knoxville & Meads Quarry Engagement session, I want to share a bit about it. I think Morgan might have found me on Instagram… I can’t even remember. But as I was emailing back and forth with her, she mentioned that the reason she fell in love with her venue is because they had a piece of Kenyan art hanging up in their bridal suite, and she had just spent 6 weeks there and had fallen in love. With every couple, I always look for things that we have in common to help grow a relationship with them. So, I immediately asked for all the details on her Kenya trip, since I too had been to Kenya. Turns out, we went to the SAME orphanage (Tumaini Miles of Smiles) in a teensy tiny city called Malava within Western Kenya. You’d think that we probably had other connections that crossed and led us both to take a mission trip to Tumaini Miles of Smiles, right? Nope. All the people I knew that led me there were different than the people she knew that led her there. Long story short… it was SUCH a God thing that our paths crossed. Since Morgan has been back, she and Taylor have started the process of helping Tumaini from over here. She has done a backpack drive and has gotten some super cute headbands made by some of the Tumaini students to sell here and give the proceeds straight back to the orphanage. Here’s where it gets really crazy. She later tells me that she wants to start a clothing company where the students there sew the clothing, send it to the states, and Morgan sells it with 100% of the proceeds going back to the orphanage and school. Nearly 2 years ago, the Lord laid this SAME EXACT THING on my heart! I started the process and saw doors opening that were crazy awesome. As I started digging, I quickly realized how much went into doing this and how I knew NOBODY in the fashion industry to help me out. I was still trying to just get my foot off the ground half a centimeter when I found out I was pregnant and had to put it on hold. And now, just now, after I’ve gotten the courage to hire some Amanda May Photos employees and free up a little bit of my time, the Lord brings this sweet soul into my life to remind me that His plan for the clothing company is happening regardless of whether I’m the steward or not, and I can either hop on board or let this incredible opportunity to know Him a little more pass me up. You best bet I’m hopping on board! I don’t know when you’re going to see any fruits from this effort because I think we have a looooong journey of figuring out… ummm… well…. everything… before we get a product to sell, but hopefully, somewhere down the road, we will bring clothing and accessories to you all the way from Kenya, and you will have a small part in helping a child have a better chance at life than just poverty.
Now that you know that, it’s totally going to change how you look through this couple’s downtown Knoxville and Meads Quarry Engagement Session! You will see the moments shared between them as so much richer because you know a little bit more about how their hearts beat for the Lord.
