Engagement Session at Maker Exchange

The Marriott Knoxville Downtown Hotel and The Tennessean Hotel are joined in their lobby area. There is also a bar and an area called Maker Exchange. It’s full of local artists’ work and is absolutely so beautiful. It has amazing light and fun colors. As we were getting ready for Sarah and JT’s engagement session, the rain was not in our favor. Rescheduling would be very difficult, however, since their wedding is August 2nd, and we only had about 1.5 weeks between their engagement session and wedding day. Of course, their calendar is full of wedding festivities and tasks between now and then, and my calendar is always a battle on such short notice. So instead of trying to find a new date, we changed locations to be indoors. I gave them several options for indoor locations, and we landed on Maker Exchange in Marriott’s lobby. It was perfect because it did end up raining for the entirety of our session. When I initially offered that as a location, I had forgotten about the little covered area they have right outside so not only did we have a beautiful indoor spot, but we popped outside for a few covered outdoor photos, too! While it was not Sarah and JT’s first choice, they both got excited about the idea of having a glass of champagne for their photos, being in an air conditioned space, and having something fun and different from the engagement photos they took on the beach back in Sarah’s hometown. It all worked out for the best despite the rain, and I loved their mindset behind that. Sometimes in life things don’t go to plan, but fighting against the way it’s unfolding only makes the new plan harder. Just embracing the change helps keep things low stress and way more fun! Thanks, Sarah and JT, for shifting last minute. I had a blast with you guys!
