Celebrating Two Years of Marriage with the Wedding Portraits They Had Always Dreamed Of

Some love stories deserve a second chance in front of the camera. This Lakeshore Park wedding portraits session with Braidee and Vivek was exactly that.

When Braidee and Vivek got married two years ago, they celebrated in one of the most meaningful ways possible. Instead of planning just one wedding, they thoughtfully planned two separate celebrations within a matter of months. One honoring Vivek’s culture and one honoring Braidee’s. Their wedding day at Ijams Nature Center centered around what mattered most to them: spending time with the people they love.

Because that was their priority, they intentionally dedicated much of their photography coverage to candid moments with family and friends. Looking back through their gallery over the years, though, they realized they wished they had more portraits of just the two of them in their beautiful wedding attire.

So, for their second anniversary, they decided to make it happen.

Our original plan was to return to Ijams Nature Center so the portraits would blend seamlessly with their original wedding gallery. But sometimes the best plans are the ones that change. Since they were married in the spring and my first available opening wasn’t until late June, Braidee stopped by Ijams a few days before our session to scout it out. She quickly noticed just how different the landscape looked. The lush summer canopy had filled in. This created much heavier shade and changed the look of many of the locations they originally envisioned.

After talking it through, we made a last minute decision to move the session to Lakeshore Park. This location also holds special memories for them.

I am so thankful we did.

The soft summer light, wide open fields, and gorgeous scenery gave us the perfect backdrop while still keeping the focus exactly where it belonged: on Braidee and Vivek.

If you had been standing with us that evening, you would’ve known just how incredibly hot it was. Tennessee in late June certainly doesn’t hold back! Fans became our best friends between locations, and there were plenty of moments spent wiping away sweat before jumping back in front of the camera.

But the funny thing about photographs is that they don’t always tell the story of the temperature.

Looking through this gallery, I don’t notice the heat at all. I don’t see the sweat or the fans tucked just out of frame. Instead, I see two people completely wrapped up in each other, celebrating two years of marriage with genuine laughter, joyful smiles, and the kind of comfort that only grows stronger with time.

These portraits weren’t about recreating their wedding day. They were about finishing a chapter that had always felt just a little incomplete. Two years later, Braidee and Vivek finally have the portraits they had hoped for all along, and I couldn’t be happier that I got to help tell this part of their story.

Happy anniversary, Braidee and Vivek! Thank you for trusting me to celebrate this milestone with you. Here’s to many more years of love, laughter, and making memories together.
