You never know what someone is going through. This couple tried to get pregnant for 10.5 years. They went through SO much. From surgeries to medical menopause to fertility drugs to IUIs to acupuncture to IVF. When they reached out to me at the beginning of April, I was not accepting any in-home sessions due to Coronavirus, but I told them to check back with me once the baby was here at the end of April to see how things were looking. So, they did. On April 23rd, Laramie messaged me letting me know her sweet, precious rainbow baby had arrived and asking if there was any way I could take photos for them. At that point, I was still not accepting any in-home sessions and was only booking open air sessions for May.
Before I had a chance to respond to her, I watched a Zoom with my church. It was called Story & Song, and due to Hazel being a little turd face, I only got to see 3 of the stories. 2 of the 3 were about babies/fertility issues and foster care/SIDS, and my heart just ached for these parents. Just hours before Story & Song aired, we watched our pastor talk about how our church’s word for the year was READY. They are feeling like God was preparing us to be READY to move and love and live differently in the face of this coronavirus for the sake of the Kingdom. Then, here comes a couple who have been through so much, and all they want are pictures of their sweet miracle baby. I just felt this quiet whisper telling me to do it. It’s not about the money. It’s not about the business. It’s not about me. It’s not even about them. It’s about Him. It’s about the way He worked in this family, and now, there is physical proof of His love and His grace in this sweet little human named Hollis.
So, before you judge me, there were extra crazy precautions taken before I arrived and while I was there to ensure no passing of unwanted germs. I won’t waste your time telling you all of the things we did, but trust me when I tell you how careful we were. I do not regret for one single second risking it.
Join me in welcoming baby Hollis into the world with his first ever photo session. This Knoxville newborn session will always have a place in my heart. I love their story and am so thankful they clung to Christ throughout their journey.
