I did not come out the gate swinging at in-home lifestyle sessions when I began my photography career. To be totally honest, in my first couple of years of photography (2010-2011), it scared the poop out of me. I had NO idea how to shoot inside, and I didn’t have the right equipment for it either. I did not understand light or white balance, and my extent of manual shooting was my aperture and shutter. Over the years, however, I learned about Kelvin white balance. I learned about ISO. I learned how to operate an off-camera flash setup that would come in handy more times than one. Mostly, I gained knowledge and experience that has now made me absolutely ADORE in-home lifestyle sessions. Whether it’s newborns, a new home, a home about to be sold, a new dog, or just a family Christmas card, they may be my new favorite type of portrait session!
This is the Harris family. Their house is ADORABLE, and they had it fully decorated with their wedding photos (which made me so happy even if it was another photographer). I am always so proud of young couples who print their photos!
Hannah is the full time nanny to the Cruze family. She is practically a baby sleep expert, and when Hazel was really fresh, she listened to me complain about the very teensy weensy amount of sleep I was getting, helped me troubleshoot ideas to help her, and even followed up after she hadn’t heard from me in awhile. This girl is so kind. so thoughtful. and an absolute gem. I’m so thankful they had me in their gorgeous home!
