I had the absolute pleasure of photographing Hope Resource Center’s 2017 fundraising dinner again this year. This organization never fails to blow me away. This year was Hope Resource Center’s 20th year in operation! How phenomenal is that? They have served over 25,000 patients and closed 2 abortion clinics. There is so much to be said about the people that work and volunteer at Hope Resource Center. They are absolutely incredible. Their hearts, their vision, and their desire to serve the Lord are an inspiration. They are truly being the hands and feet of Christ every day when they go to work.
One of my favorite things about Hope’s fundraiser is that they have a past patient come and speak about her story. This year it was Briana Foley. She told about the time that she found out she was pregnant in her first semester of nursing school. She told about the guy handing her money to “take care of it”. She told about the saving grace of Hope Resource Center because she handed that money back to him as he walked out of her life forever and Hope was her only hope.
This year is the first time that I can really relate to these women, because this year I am a mom myself. True, my pregnancy was planned, but even still, I can testify to the powerful fear of bringing home a baby for the first time. I could not imagine doing this without my amazing husband by my side, while many of the women that come to Hope are doing so because they are going at it alone. These women are a force to be reckoned with. They are strong. Courageous. Smart. Brave. Beautiful. Steadfast. They are moms. That chose to keep their babies even though it was going to be hard.
I am SO proud to get to partner with Hope Resource Center. I want to encourage you right now that if you felt any heart strings being tugged while reading this post, go make a donation to them. Their website is http://knoxvillehope.com/ and you can contact them directly through their online portal. Whether its $5 or $500, every single dime counts. You are giving to save the life of an unborn baby. But if you can’t give (and even if you can), you can absolutely pray. Pray that God continues to move mountains through Hope. Pray for the emotional, physical, and mental strength of all of the parents that come through Hope’s doors. Pray for the hearts of the volunteers and workers to know how to love each patient deeply and just how they need it. Pray. Today, May 4th, is national prayer day. Put it at the top of your to do list.
