This is the third year I have had the privilege of partnering with Hope Resource Center to give their patients either maternity or family photos they can cherish forever. We took the Hope Resource Center 2018 portraits at a park right beside their office, which is really close to UT’s campus. I think I’ve share before how I connected with Hope, but just in case you don’t remember, it’s a pretty cool God story! Honestly, I had never heard of Hope Resource Center. It’s crazy because it is one of the bigger non-profits in Knoxville, but somehow, our paths never crossed. Then, Jamie Tilson came along. I looked back at my emails on how Jamie found me, but unfortunately, I wasn’t able to find them. Regardless, Jamie got engaged and was looking to use me as her wedding photographer. Her beautiful wedding came and went, and afterwards, I went to town editing her photos. We never discussed where Jamie’s mom worked or even talked about Hope at all during our relationship of photographer-bride. Fast forward probably 4-6 months after the wedding, and I started praying specifically for God to start using this gift that He has given me to directly serve Him. Not that I wasn’t using it to hopefully pass on the love of Jesus with every couple, bridal party member, and wedding guest, but I was praying for a way that I could use it on missions or volunteering, etc. He knew exactly what I meant, even though I wasn’t really that specific because duh…He’s God…but within the next couple weeks several things happened. 1) My church reached out to me to volunteer taking pictures for them on Sundays, 2) Salvation Army asked me to come voluntarily photograph a fundraising dinner for them, 3) Homes of Love asked me to photograph a fundraising event for them, and finally (and the one I’m going to spend the most time on), 4) I got a call from Jamie saying that her mom works at this place called Hope Resource Center, and they are looking for a photographer to come take pictures at their annual fundraiser. She didn’t even say if it was paid or a volunteer gig. I knew in my bones this was exactly how God was answering my prayer, and it would be 100% volunteering from my end. That event was the very first time I had ever met Andrew Wood and his amazing team of ladies that are pushing Knoxville towards the Gospel one unplanned pregnancy at a time. They must have liked me a little bit because we have gone on to work together 6 or 7 more times. And I love it. I love their message. Their people. How they are the hands and feet of Christ. It is beautiful. Fast forward a year or so and Andrew and Erin Wood show up in the sanctuary of my and Dustin’s home church. A place that they get plugged into, and I just knew this was another sign from the Lord. My heart is in my church because of how they showed me what it truly meant to be the hands and feet of God. My heart was in Hope for the same reason, and now, Hope and Shoreline were also coming together. So, these Hope Resource Center 2018 portraits were not just a set of portraits. It was the Lord fulfilling and continuing to fulfill a prayer that I prayed over 3 years ago. I’m so thankful for this partnership with Hope, and I want to encourage you to go support them, volunteer with them, and spread their name to others who can do the same.
Hope is hosting another fundraiser event on December 14 where Josh Lovelace is putting on a benefit concert. You can get tickets to the event by following the link here! It will be SUCH an awesome concert…Josh Lovelace is phenomenal. And I will be there taking pictures ;-).
I hope you enjoy looking at these Hope Resource Center 2018 portraits!
